Lawmakers in the House of Representatives (HoR) today called for an impartial investigation into the recent confiscation of foreign currencies worth approximately Rs 250 million from Tokha, Kathmandu.
Raising the issue in the parliament, Madhav Sapkota expressed concern over the seizure, highlighting its connection to organized crime and smuggling networks in the country.
The Kathmandu Valley Crime Division had apprehended Kusang Lama, 43, from Sindhupalchowk's Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality on Monday evening. He was found with a container filled with foreign currencies, including US dollars and euros.
Meanwhile, lawmaker Sumana Shrestha urged the government to take the education sector seriously and provide an update on why Madhesh Province has decided not to participate in this year's School Education Examination. She also criticized the political interference in the Free Students' Union (FSU), which she said is negatively affecting university education.
Ramkrishna Yadav emphasized the need to strengthen peace and security in the country, while Ram Kumar Rai urged government action on a fire incident in Khotang district on March 17.
Additionally, Ramhari Khatiwada and Mukta Kumari Yadav drew the government's attention to various contemporary issues.
