Leaders picket Siraha DAO
Siraha, August 19:
Four political parties staged a sit-in in front of the Siraha district administration office today, after a jeep that was seized along with weapons during the CA poll was freed last Thursday without any legal action in the case.
Cadres affiliated with the CPN-UML, Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (MJF), Janamorcha and the Maoists staged the sit-in and halted the work of the office for two hours. Police had seized Indian jeep BR 32 B 9068 from Bal Mandir booth in Siraha on April 10, the day of the CA poll.
The agitating parties handed a memorandum to CDO Bal Krishna Panthi and warned of staging stronger protest if the jeep was not seized again within 24 hours.
The agitators said six persons β including Dr Subash Yadav, the son of Sitadevi Yadav who was a candidate from Siraha-3 β were in the jeep. The agitators demanded their arrest.
βThe file related to the case was sent to the office of the government lawyer but the vehicle was freed after the office of government lawyer said that the case could not be filed against the accused,β superintendent of police Mingmar Lama said.
Meanwhile, issuing a press statement NC Siraha president Sitadevi Yadav stated the agitators were trying to defame six NC cadres including her son by linking them with the case.
