KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 16

The District Administration Office (DAO) in Kailali has withdrawn the prohibitory order that was imposed in response to the recent Gen-Z demonstrations.

With the order lifted, public transportation services, local markets, and schools have reopened. Several government offices have also resumed operations following days of disruption caused by incidents of vandalism and arson.

During the two-day protests on September 8-9, numerous acts of arson and vandalism targeted government offices. Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah visited the affected offices today to assess the extent of the damage and instructed employees to restore services as quickly as possible.

According to Information Officer Jagadish Joshi from the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, most buildings owned by provincial ministries were severely damaged, and valuable documents were destroyed.

In total, 137 government buildings and private houses were set on fire or vandalized during the demonstrations, and 664 vehicles were destroyed in acts of arson.
