Madhav Kumar Nepal’s house needs repairs

Gaur, March 18:

Madhav Kumar Nepal’s six-year-old house is in dilapidated condition because of two reasons: last year an angry mob of Madhesi protesters vandalised it and Nepal is shy of coming here and renovating the house.

The window panes of the house are broken, ashes from the burnt wooden doors and rubbles are scattered on the ground. “Inflicting damage to Madhavji’s house is a great loss to this district,” says next door neighbour Dev Prayag Gupta.

After the incident, Nepal’s family visited the house only twice. His sister broke down when she saw the damage, said Mahesh Nepal, Madhav Kumar Nepal’s cousin who lives next door. Some of the neighbours said: “Maybe he (Nepal) got compensation and does not want this house to be repaired.”

But Gayatri Nepal, wife of MK Nepal, says they could not repair the house as they have no time to do so. “I do not understand why the people torched and vandalised the house of a person who did everything in his capacity to uplift his home district.”

“Everything is damaged in the house. We do not have money to fix it and the government has not been able to nab the culprits,” she complained.

But there are people who still have grudges against Nepal.
