Madhes parties observe bandh for second day
Janakpur, January 25:
Life in various districts was affected today due to the bandh called by three Madhes organisations.
Agitators staged demonstrations and transport service, educational institutions and industries remained closed.
Vehicular movement as well railway service were also halted.
Samyuta Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (SJTMM), JTMM-J and Samyukta Madhesi Morcha had called for a two-day bandh ahead of a seven-party joint meet to be held in Janakpur
tomorrow.
SJTMM district in-charge Anand in a statement urged that nobody attend the joint meet and warned of action against anybody attending it.
In Mahottari district, vehicles bound to Janakpur, Bardibas and Matihani did not ply.
Though educational institutions were closed, there was no disruption in the School Leaving Certificate level send-up test exams.
In Sunsari, the agitators set fire to two shops and vandalised three motorbikes in Inaruwa for defying the bandh.
In Kalaliya of Bara district, transport was halted completely due to the chhakajam called by Samukta Madhesi Morcha.
Also the chakkajam was in place in the district headquarters of Rautahat, Parsa, Sarlahi, Siraha and Saptari districts in the Tarai.
