GAUSHALA: Police in Mahottari district on Thursday arrested three absconding youth on charge of gang-raping a girl in Aaurahi Rural Municipality-2 on June 11.

The arrested have been identified as local residents Aniket Yadav (20), Ramesh Panjiyar (21), Suresh Yadav (20).

Another accused Sunil Sah (22), a local youth was arrested on the night of the incident, said police.

The four youths had allegedly gang-raped the 21-year-old girl (21) in a paddy field in Aaurahi Rural Municipality at around 8:00 pm 12 days ago, according to Superintendant of Police Raj Kumar Lamsal at the District Police Office, Mahottari.

Police had rescued the girl immediately after the incident took place and handed her over to her guardians. According to police, her condition is normal now.

A rape case has been registered against the youths and are remanded in judicial custody at the DPO while the necessary investigation is underway, said police.

According to SP Lamsal, they will be tried under Muluki Ain  2072, regarding rape, Chapter 14.
