BAJURA, JANUARY 15

After her husband married another woman, Loksari Kuwar, 23, who had received burn injuries, has been left in the lurch in Ward No 10 of Budhiganga Municipality, Bajura.

Kuwar had received burn injuries nine months ago. She was treated at Patan Hospital in Lalitpur with financial support of organisations and individuals. After three months of treatment, Kuwar was sent home. Loksari and her son have been left in the lurch after her husband Ekendra Kuwar married another woman and left for India.

Loksari' health has improved and Patan Hospital has asked her to visit the hospital after five months for follow-up. Loksari bemoaned that she could not visit the hospital for follow-up for lack of money and caregiver.

She complained that her husband had married another woman as she became disabled due to burns.

"My husband has fled to India with a second wife. He is out of contact," Loksari bemoaned. According to Patan Hospital, 38 per cent of Loksari's body has been burnt. The burn injury has changed her body structure. In-laws have prohibited her from cooking. As a result, she has managed utensils on her own.

"My body is paining due to burns. But, I have not been able to go for follow-up for lack of money," Loksari bemoaned.

After The Himalayan Times covered a story titled 'woman left in the lurch for want of money', Loksari was treated with the assistance of Medical Rehabilitation Organisation and BVS-Nepal.
