Bara police have arrested a person for suspiciously cremating his wife’s body in Pachrauta Municipality, Bara.

Though the incident took place on Saturday night, police made public the incident today.

The arrested has been identified as Bachhu Sah, 55, of Benauli, Pachrauta Municiplaity-7.  According to Bara Police Spokesperson DSP Ranjit Singh Rathaur, police had taken Sah under control while he was cremating his wife Ramdevi’s body in the paddy field the same night on the basis of information provided by locals.

Rathaur said the body was fully charred when police reached the incident site. “Police have nabbed Sah as it is suspicious to cremate a body in the paddy filed at night,” said DSP Rathaur. Police are investigating the woman’s death.

Kin of the deceased said that Ramdevi  had been suffering from diarrhoea since a few days. Police say Ramdevi might have died of the same problem. Ten others arrested, however, were freed on Sunday on the condition that they would present themselves before the police office when called.
