Maoist cadre injured in police firing

Biratnagar, May 21

A cadre of Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal was injured in police firing in Bhojpur today.

Police opened fire after CPN cadres brandished weapons at the police in Dhodlekhani Khola forest in Tyamke Maiyum Rural Municipality. The injured has been identified as Tirthraj Ghimire, 32. He was shot in the leg.

Based on a tip-off, the police team had reached the forest to arrest CPN cadres.

Inspector Pandaw Kumar Rajbanshi said police had seized a pistol, five bullets, a binocular, four detonators, explosive materials, brochures and pamphlets of the party from Ghimire.

He is undergoing treatment at Bhojpur District Hospital.

District Police Office had deployed a police team following a tip-off that Chand-led party’s cadres had been hiding in the forest.
