Maoist cadres’ meet shelved
Kathmandu, October 25:
The national gathering of Maoist cadres, which was scheduled to be held from November 9 to 12, has been postponed till November-end.
The meet was expected to discuss the CPN-Maoist’s future political orientation. The Mohan Baidya-led faction has been insisting that the ruling party should move ahead to establish a people’s republic. Many parties fear that people’s republic will usher in an authoritarian regime.
Lokendra Bista, a central committee member of the CPN-Maoist, said the cadres’ meet would be convened at the November-end as the House was yet to approve the fiscal budget. He said the meet would discuss the party’s future strategy and political orientation.
