Phidim, May 19:

The Maoists cadres have seized a large number of vehicles from different parts of Panchthar district for transporting the participants of a Maoists’ mass meeting scheduled for May 20 in Biratnagar.

According to the transport entrepreneurs, the vehicles were seized from district headquarters Phidim, Gopetar, Jorpokhari, Raa-nke and Tharpu Bazaar. The seized vehicles were seen parked in a row at Phidim Bazaar yesterday.

The bus-booking counters situated at Phidim said the Maoists’ three days ago had requested the entrepreneurs to send all passenger buses to Biratnagar.

Maoist District Member Prakash said the vehicles were taken in control to transport people to the venue. He added most of those travelling to Biratnagar will be Maoist leaders, cadres and supporters.
