Terhathum town fire contained after four hours
PHIDIM: A massive fire that broke out in Sankranti Bazaar of Terhathum district on Friday afternoon has been taken under control after a continuous effort of four hours.
While 28 houses were destroyed in the fire, three others were demolished while containing it, according to police.
Preliminary estimations have calculated the loss of valuables worth around Rs 50 million.

Massive fire in Terhathum town; containing efforts underway

BHOJPUR: A massive fire broke out in Sankranti Bazaar of Terhathum district on Friday afternoon. At least 20 houses have been engulfed by the inferno.
The fire had begun from the kitchen room at the house of local Agni Sedhain, according to police.
DSP Bhagendra Purush Dahal of the District Police Office said attempts were underway to contain the fire and police were evacuating people from the affected and likely to be affected houses.
Police and locals assisted by an excavator also demolished some houses in a bid to contain the fire.
Meanwhile, a fire brigade had been called from the neighbouring Panchthar district to contain the fire.
"It may take few more hours," Dhakal told a local television channel at 2 pm, "But, it will surely come under the control."
There are around 150 houses in the town.
