JANAKPUR, FEBRUARY 16
Nepali Congress leader Bimalendra Nidhi has expressed confidence that the federal Parliament will endorse the Millennium Challenge Corporation compact.
"The activism shown by CPN- Maoist Centre Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Chairperson of CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal for the MCC agreement has also built up hope among people that the MCC will be passed by the House of Representatives," Nidhi observed.
Nidhi stated this before mediapersons at Janakpur Airport yesterday.
If the MCC does not get endorsed, Nepal stands to lose the trust of the international community, he argued.
He said the MCC was a US grant for development of electricity transmission line and it was not a loan.
He further said that receiving the $ 500-million MCC grant would not create a debt-trap for Nepal.
The Nepali Congress is endorsing the compact with the initiative of the people.
Moreover, he urged party leaders and cadres to devote their time to preparation for the upcoming May 13 elections of the local level.
