Meet to take up Nepal’s report

Kathmandu, June 27:

The CPN-UML central committee will tomorrow start deliberations on the report presented by

party General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal.

All 14 zonal in-charges of the party presented their political report in the central leadership meeting today. Nepal’s report focuses on the strengths and weaknesses of the government, the peace process and the party’s future strategy, including the party’s stance on constituent assembly election.

The highlight of today’s meet was the presentation of a report by party leader Jhalanath Khanal on foreign policy. Khanal suggested a foreign policy that is based on the country’s ground reality and sovereignty. He also suggested a balanced relationship with immediate neighbours India and China. He said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should be consolidated.

Other UML leaders suggested 33 per cent participation of women in all the state machinery. Central member of the party Bharat Mohan Adhikari suggested that the upcoming budget include the mandate of the Jana Andolan-II.
