Memo for PM submitted to CDO

Inter-party Women’s Network, Khotang has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli through the chief district officer demanding the arrest and stern action against culprits involved in the rape and murder of Nirmala Panta of Kanchanpur at the District Administration Office, Khotang on Monday.

The network sent the memorandum to the PM through CDO Surendra Raj Poudel today. Submitting the memo to CDO Poudel, Vice-chair Man Kumari Rashaili of the network said the government should not protect culprits on one pretext or another. “Dozens of rape and murder incidents have taken place across the country after Panta’s rape and murder,” she added. Rashali urged the government to make the police and administration stronger and more responsible with regard to violence against women.

The memo states that from a nine-month-old minor to a 70-year-old women have been victims of rape. These incidents have made a mockery of human rights The memo further says that women are compelled to face social stigma and domination due to such incidents. The network accused the administration of protecting culprits and impeding justice.
