Mental health policy coming to effect soon

 

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health has endorsed the Mental Health Policy-2017.

At a programme organized here on Friday to mark the World Health Day-2017, Minister for Health Gagan Thapa said that the policy finalised by the Ministry would come into effect soon once it gets nod from the Council of Ministers.

"After the policy comes into force, the people living with mental problem would also survive a life with dignity and respect", he noted.

With the concentration of mental health services at big cities, research has shown that 0.22 psychiatrists and 0.06 psychologists per 100,000 populations have been providing mental health services in Nepal.
