Mid-Marsyangdi hydel project yet to reopen
Lamjung, January 8:
The mid-Marsyangdi hydro-electricity project, lying closed since December 31, has not reopened yet.
The international contractor company DDC JV said the project would not reopen until there is a guarantee of security.
“Secretary of the pro-Maoist All Nepal Trade Union Federation Rajan Timilsena, and district chairperson Shambhu Shrestha, in course of forcibly registering the union in the project, threatened to kill us. So, the project will not reopen until there is a guarantee of security and the Maoist central leaders apologise,” a high-ranking official of the project said on condition of anonymity.
“We have not threatened any DDC JV officials. We have not even mistreated them. The contractor company is cooking up excuses to hide the corruption in the project,” chief of the Lamjung peoples’ government Buddhi Ram Tamu said.
