RAUTAHAT, JUNE 22

A programme organised to welcome a federal minister turned bitter when he lost his ministerial berth during the celebration at his home district Rautahat today.

Minister of Drinking Water Anil Kumar Jha had visited Rautahat for the first time after becoming minister today. He was given a grand welcome in his home district, but the euphoria did not last long as the Supreme Court issued an interim order relieving 20 ministers, including Jha, who had been appointed after dissolution of the House by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

A large number of Janata Samajbadi Party cadres and locals had lined up along the East-West Highway in Rauathat to welcome Minister Jha. He was greeted with black flags by cadres loyal to the Upendra Yadav faction of JSP-N at Garuda.

A formal programme was organised at Siya Palace, Gaur, by his party to welcome him. While the function was under way, a division bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana and Justice Prakash Kumar Dhungana issued an order in the name of the caretaker government to relieve the newly appointed ministers from their posts.
