KATHMANDU, AUGUST 24
Minister for Drinking Water and Minister for Health and Population Pradip Paudel held discussions on controlling and preventing the cholera outbreak in Birgunj city.
During the meeting at the Ministry of Health and Population on Sunday, the two ministers addressed the cholera situation in Birgunj and agreed to ensure the availability of cholera kits in the affected areas, provide immediate treatment to patients based on their symptoms, arrange free check-ups in private hospitals, and mobilize adequate human resources, according to Kamalraj Shrestha, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Drinking Water.
The ministers also agreed to take coordinated measures across all three tiers of government, Shrestha added.
"We are fully committed to controlling cholera. Cooperation from all stakeholders, civil society, and the local community is essential," Shrestha said.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Central Security Committee decided to deploy a team of medical practitioners to the cholera-affected areas of Birgunj.
