Minor girl raped and murdered in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT: A 16-year-old girl was raped and murdered at a sugarcane field in Brindaban Municipality of Rautahat district, on Friday.

The incident came to fore after the minor, who had gone to collect fodder from nearby location early in the morning, did not return home for hours, said mayor Ram Snehi Yadav.

According to the District Police Office, locals informed the incident to police around 3 pm after spotting the body at a nearby sugarcane field.

Locals said that the body was sent to the District Hospital for autopsy.

The police administration has failed to curb the rising number of crimes including rape, murder among other in the district, so far.

Although Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa had claimed Nepal as a country with low reported number of rape cases compared to other countries, one more incident of rape case has surfaced within few days of Parsa and Bajhang rape incident.

Meanwhile, there are widespread protest demanding stern punishment for rapists, across the country.
