KATHMANDU, MAY 26

Nepal reported more recoveries than new cases of coronavirus infection in 24 hours after a considerable duration. As many as 6,677 fresh cases were logged on Wednesday, while in the same period 6,716 people recovered from Covid-19.

Meanwhile, 145 more coronavirus-related fatalities were logged, taking the death toll to 6,845. The nationwide infection caseload stands at 535,525 as of today.

Antigen tests confirmed 37 positive infections in the past 24 hours indicating that a total of 6,714 cases from both RT-PCR and antigen tests were registered.

According to the health ministry, a total of 19,352 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, of which 19,030 were PCR tests while 322 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 2,977,650 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

The active case count stands at 117,077 whereas 411,603 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection so far. The recovery rate from the disease stands at 76.9 per cent.

Currently, there are 853 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Tuesday, Nepal's coronavirus case count had reached 528,848 with 8,387 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 168 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3.5 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 150 million people have recovered while more than 15 million cases are still active.
