Dipayal, February 5 :
About 80 per cent of those who received citizenship from the Citizenship Distribution Teams in the hilly districts of the far western region are women.
â€œMost of the men of this region have gone to India for employment; so only a few men received citizenship certificates,â€ said officials of the teams.
Quoting the Chief District Officers (CDO) of Bajura and Bajhang districts, Balraj Dhakal, statistics officer in the Far-western Regional Administration Office, said: â€œ80 per cent of those who got citizenship papers were women.â€
Doti CDO Baldev Prasad Bhatta said: â€œMost of the illiterate women in this region are deprived of citizenship certificates. Many youths, who have gone to India, failed to receive citizenship certificates.
