More women acquire citizenship in far west
Dipayal, February 5 :
About 80 per cent of those who received citizenship from the Citizenship Distribution Teams in the hilly districts of the far western region are women.
“Most of the men of this region have gone to India for employment; so only a few men received citizenship certificates,” said officials of the teams.
Quoting the Chief District Officers (CDO) of Bajura and Bajhang districts, Balraj Dhakal, statistics officer in the Far-western Regional Administration Office, said: “80 per cent of those who got citizenship papers were women.”
Doti CDO Baldev Prasad Bhatta said: “Most of the illiterate women in this region are deprived of citizenship certificates. Many youths, who have gone to India, failed to receive citizenship certificates.
