SIRAHA, MARCH 15

A man, most-wanted in the list of police for his involvement in criminal activities, went to the district land revenue office in broad daylight and got his land transferred to someone he had sold his property to and returned.

Interestingly, police didn't get wind of it. This happened in Siraha.

As learnt now, Janatantraik Tarai Mukti Morcha (Jwala Singh) Chairperson Nagendra Kumar Paswan, aka Jwala Singh, of Siraha Municipality has sold two of the five land plots in his name in Siraha district headquarters. After selling his land, he also went to the Land Reform and Land Revenue Office to complete the formalities of land transfer to the buyer.

As learnt from data of the office, Paswan sold the land for four million rupees.

Meanwhile, the news that police didn't have any clue even when the most-wanted man turned up at a government office and returned safely after getting his work done has got people suspicious.

Land Revenue Office Chief Under-secretary Bishnu Prasad Sitaula disavowed details of the land registration, saying it had happened before he was transferred here. Information officer Sudhir Kumar Yadav, on his part, said he didn't know that the lands had been blocked.

"Many service seekers come to our office every day and we don't know all of them. As the man in question too must have come to us for our service by completing all formalities and we didn't know him personally, there was no way we could refuse to serve him," he said.

District Police Office, Siraha, information officer DSP Subas Budhathoki said investigation had begun as to how the blocked land was sold. "We had written to the office concerned to block transaction of his property.

We are trying to learn how the blocked property was sold," he said.

As per sources, Paswan, along with his family, is living in Bihar of India now.
