KAPILVASTU: A woman was strangled to death by her son in a family dispute in Kapilvastu Municipality-8 of the district on Friday night.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Dip Shamsher JBR at Kapilvastu District Police Office, Fulmati (55) was strangled by her son Surendra Kurmi after a dispute over ancestral property at Dohani.

Surendra under the influence of alcohol, physically assaulted his mother Fulmati and strangled her during the family squabble on, claimed local Ramesh Kurmi. Surendra is absconding after the incident.

Meanwhile, the body of the victim has been kept at the district hospital, Taulihawa for post mortem.

The search is on for the fleeing Surendra and further investigation in the case is underway, police informed.
