KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 11
The bodies of three missing French Alpinists have been recovered by a team of trained mountain guides mobilised for carrying out the rescue mission.
The recovered bodies of the three deceased Frenchmen were flown to Kathmandu by a team from Nepal National Mountain Guides Association in coordination with French mountaineering experts.
Ground search was conducted by highly-trained mountain guides including Mingma G, Vinayak J Malla, Ang Dawa Sherpa, Tsering Pemba Sherpa and Pemba Gyalzen Sherpa.
"They discovered three bodies yesterday (on Sunday) and recovery work was conducted today with the help of French experts," Ang Norbu Sherpa, President of Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA). Sherpa further said that the bodies were recovered at a height of 4870 metres.
According to the French Embassy in Kathmandu, The Crisis and Support Centre of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs had also sent a search-rescue mission to Nepal to find the three compatriots missing in Khumbu.
At least 14 experts from Gendarmerie Nationale High Mountain Platoon joined hands with NNMGA and expert mountain guides for the search mission.
The bodies were taken to TUTH KTM for postmortem.
