KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 18
The opposition parties in the House of Representatives have drawn the government's attention to take action against all those found guilty in the Balkumari incident, where two people were killed during a protest staged by EPS Korea aspiring youths in the Balkumari area of Lalitpur on December 29.
During today's meeting of the lower house, CPN (UML) whip Mahesh Bartaula demanded action against those responsible for the Balkumari incident, accusing the government of failing to act against all individuals found guilty by the committee formed to investigate the incident.
Similarly, Rastriya Swatantra Party President Ravi Lamichhane demanded action against the culprits, citing the inquiry committee's conclusion that the Minister of Physical Infrastructure was responsible for the incident.
MP Prem Suwal emphasized the need to punish those found guilty in various corruption cases. He also called for the government to bear the expenses incurred by parliamentarians during their foreign visits, thereby preventing MPs from participating in foreign visits sponsored by other countries and embassies.
At the beginning of today's meeting, opposition MPs stood up from their respective seats in protest, prompting Speaker Devraj Ghimire to allow them time to speak.
Meanwhile, ruling Nepali Congress MP Deepak Khadka raised concerns about the leasing of Nepal Scout's land, asserting that all due processes had been completed for the same.
