NAWALPARASI: Multi Sectorial Nutrition Programme has been launched in 28 districts including Nawalparasi.

The nutrition programme has been jointly launched by the National Planning Commission, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare, and the Ministry of Livestock Development through the thematic offices in the district.

Various awareness programmes would be held on 'intake of nutritious diets' for pregnant women, lactating mothers and vaccinations for newly born babies and children.

In Nawalparasi, the programme will be launched in 20 VDCs of Ramgram Municipality with the allocated budget of Rs 10 million, District Development Committee's Focal Nutrition Person and Programme Officer Mohan Gyawali said.

The nutrition programme has been operated in Nepal since 2013.

In the starting year, the multi sectorial programme spanned over six districts. The programme was introduced in 11 districts the following year and 11 more consecutively.
