KATHMANDU, MAY 4
Continuous overnight rainfall has disrupted vehicular movement along the Narayanghat-Butwal section of the East-West Highway and the Kanti Highway, causing travel delays in multiple districts.
According to DSP Madhu Nepal, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Nawalparasi (East), vehicles skidded off the under-construction road in the Daunne area, prompting a full closure of the highway. Passengers and drivers have been advised to seek alternative routes.
In Makawanpur, traffic along the Kanti Highway was halted after a diversion over the Bagmati River near Bhimphedi was swept away by flooding early Saturday, according to DSP Shyamu Aryal of the District Police Office, Makawanpur. Efforts are underway to restore movement, and travelers from Hetauda to Kathmandu are being redirected to alternate routes.
Both regions have experienced persistent rainfall since last night, contributing to the road disruptions.
