‘National consensus govt must’
Sindhulimadhi, June 4
CPN-Maoist Center leader Ram Bahadur Thapa today stressed on forming a national consensus government to resolve problems facing the country.
Speaking at a press meet organised in Sindhulimadhi by Press Center Nepal, Thapa said, “A national unity government alone can defend national integrity, implement the new statute and expedite reconstruction works.” He reiterated that such a government could alone lead the country towards progress by overcoming existing challenges.
Stating that his party had signed a nine-point deal with CPN-UML for the formation of national unity government, Thapa said efforts were under way to form national unity government under his party’s leadership. “After the nine-point agreement, it is only natural for our party to stake claim to the government,” he added.
On the unification between the Maoist parties, Thapa argued that unification of various fringe Maoist parties was to safeguard national sovereignty and to guarantee rights to the people. “Maoist parties merged to fulfil the aspirations of the people,” said Thapa.
Speaking at the programme, another CPN-Maoist Center leader Narayankaji Shrestha said they had forged unity among the Maoist parties to safeguard the achievements so far.
Stating that the budget unveiled by the government was people-oriented and positive, Shrestha said, “Whether or not the budget is good would be determined by how effectively it would be implemented.”
