RAJBIRAJ: Naya Shakti-Party Nepal has finally opened its account in Saptari district after winning the chairman of Chinnamasta Rural Municipality, the district election office said.

Naya Shakti-Party Nepal Surya Narayan Mandal (62) was elected as the chairman of Chinnamasta Rural Municipality in the district. He edged his closest competitor by wide margin of 2000 votes.

"After being elected, locals as well as party coordinator Babu Ram Bhattarai congratulated me, it has given me more confidence," Mandal shared.

"Developing Chinnamasta as the number one religious destination is my top priority, as the famous Chinnamasta temple is located in the area," Mandal stressed.

The vote counting results of 17 out of 18 local level have been announced so far in Saptari district. The election of the Rajbiraj Municipality was postponed after the ward chief candidate of Rajbiraj-15 died of heart attack.

The elections were held on Friday.

As of latest results of the Rajbiraj Municipality, District Election Office has annouced the results of 3 wards out of 16 wards in the Municipality.

RJPN Chandra Sikhar Chaudhar won the ward chief of Rajbiraj-1, CPN-Maoist Centre Akhtar Baba claimed the ward chief of 4 and independent candidate Sudarshan Singh emerged victorious in ward-3.

As per the latest results of this evening, RJPN candidates are leading the vote count of mayor and deputy mayor with 1138 and 1098 votes respectively.

CPN-Maoist Centre is following with 1022 and 644 votes of the top posts of the Rajbiraj Municipality.

Meanwhile, Nepali Congress and Federal Socialist Forum Nepal have won 5 seats each, RJPN following with 4 seats, UML with 2 wins and Naya Shakati Party Nepal with a solitary victory.

Earlier, the third phase of local level elections were held on September 18.
