POKHARA: President of the Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba has stated that there is no alternative to the party coming together and standing unified.

NC President Deuba said this at a New Year's greetings exchange programme and tea reception organised by Nepal Women's Association, Pokhara Chapter, on Friday.

He called upon the party leaders and cadres in the country to be active in strengthening the party by taking it forward as a campaign.

Referring to the last election where members of the party were unsupportive of one other, he said, action would be taken against anyone who is found guilty of trying to bring down their fellow party member.

Deuba encouraged his party members to begin the fortification of Nepali Congress from Gandaki Province. "No leader or cadre would like the party becoming fragile."

Criticising Prime Minister Oli-led government, NC President Deuba pointed out that increasing taxes, inflation, lack of security, increasing crimes including murder, violence, and corruption are in the increasing trend.

Likewise, senior leader of the party Ram Chandra Poudel said, the present government has institutionalised corruption and has sheltered those leaders involved in the act. He added that Nepali Congress must go from village to village spreading awareness against the prevailing corruption.

Senior leader Poudel also stressed the need to carry out the party's 14th National General Convention on time, which is in the next 10 months.

The greetings exchange programme was chaired by the President of the Nepal Women's Association-Pokhara, Maya Baral.
