NC serious about Tarai demands: Dr Koirala

Biratnagar, February 18:

Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala today said the party was serious about the demands raised by the Madhesi people.

Talking to the journalists in Biratnagar, Koirala said the Madhes issues are becoming more complex but most of the demands raised by the Madhesis have been addressed.

He also urged the government to address the appropriate demands of Madhes immediately and claimed that the agreements reached between the Madhesis and the government were not strictly implemented. Dr Koirala urged the agitating groups in the Tarai to be alert saying that protests in the region should not promote the anti-CA election elements. “If the election to constituent assembly is not held on April 10, the country will split,” he said.

He was of the view that the security situation in the country has not improved yet. “This happened because the Maoists and the government did not follow the 23-point agreement,” he said.
