NC veep toughens stand on integration

Charikot, November 15:

Vice-president of the Nepali Congress and former prime minister Ram Chandra Poudel said a civil war would break out if the People’s Liberation Army was integrated into the Nepal Army without taking the parties into confidence.

Poudel was addressing a people’s awareness campaign organised by the NC district working committee in Charikot, the district headquarters of Dolakha.

He said the NC had formed a committee to

help frame an inclusive constitution.

“No one will be allowed to exercise dictatorship,” said Poudel.

The NC leader accused the Maoists of coming up with a populist budget. He claimed that the unemployment allowance was meant for Maoist cadres.

NC central member and former law minister Bhim Bahadur Tamang, CA member Jip Chhiring Lama, NC central representative Homraj Dahal, Syangja’s CA member Mohanraj Pandey, former party president Tara Bahadur Koirala and others echoed Poudel. They stressed the need to launch awareness campaigns in villages to pave the way for the framing of an inclusive constitution.
