Reconstruction Consulting Council to meet within 10 days
KATHMANDU: The National Reconstruction Authority on Monday decided to call a meeting of the Reconstruction Consulting Council within 10 days.
The meeting of NRA Steering Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, took the decision to this effect.
In today's meeting, Prime Minister Dahal directed the NRA officials to be serious and work in result-oriented way, according to a statement issued by the PM's Secretariat.
"When you come for the next meeting (in a month), come up with expected results," he said. The NRA Steering Committee, which kicked off yesterday, concluded today.
The NRA was formed following the April 25 earthquake last year. Around 9,000 people were killed and infrastructure and properties worth billions of rupees were destroyed in the Nepal earthquake sequence.
With a conclusion that the existing regional structures, led by joint secretary, was not effective, the NRA decided to form a district-level secretariat in the leadership of Members of Parliament with the Chief District Officer, representatives from political parties to overseen the reconstruction work.
In the meeting today, Prime Minister Dahal directed the NRA to accomplish the relief distribution in 14 earthquake-hit districts and do the needful for the immediate distribution of the first tranche of relief money to those affected in 17 other districts.
Mentioning that the National Planning Commission and the Ministry of Finance were ready to provide the money, Dahal directed the NRA to do the homework for the distribution of second tranche of relief amount.
NRA Executive Director Sushil Gyawali expressed his commitment to work on a par with the Prime Minister's announcement, the statement added.
