Nepal, Koirala discuss burning issues
Kathmandu, July 25:
CPN-UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal today met Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala at the latter’s residence and discussed burning issues, including the issues of Madhesis and Janajatis and government appointments.
UML standing committee member Jhala Nath Khanal, who accompanied Nepal, said they asked the PM to restructure the government talks team as it was slow in holding talks with the agitating groups.
“We asked the PM to restructure the government talks team and hold effective dialogue with Madhesis and Janajatis to ensure peaceful constituent assembly,” said Khanal.
He said that they also discussed conducting joint mass rallies of the eight parties across the country to create a conducive environment for the November polls. A high-level inter-party coordination committee has already decided to hold such meetings jointly.
Khanal said that the PM was “positive” about the issues they raised and also assured them of calling top-level meeting of the eight party leaders soon to discuss those issues.
