KATHMANDU, JANUARY 01

Nepal recorded 342 new coronavirus infections in last 24 hours, pushing the nationwide tally to 828,773 while the death toll remains at 11,594 as no fatalities were recorded on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 812,210 with 252 discharges logged today.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, a total of 20,959 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 5,007 were PCR tests while 15,952 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 4,864,362 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 40 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests totals to 382.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 98%, while the fatality rate stands at 1.4%.

The country's active Covid-19 case count currently is 4,969.

Currently, there are 98 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Friday, Nepal had witnessed 224 cases of the respiratory infection while four persons had succumbed to the disease in the same period.
