KATHMANDU, AUGUST 16

Nepal's coronavirus caseload reached 734,838 on Monday with 2,566 more people testing positive for the infection in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 685,140 with 2,458 discharges logged today.

On the other hand, the countrywide Covid-19 mortality toll increased to 10,327 with 35 more fatalities.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, 15,611 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 10,093 were PCR tests while 5,518 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 3,767,665 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 885 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests amount to 3,451.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 93.2%, while the fatality rate stands at 1.5%. The country's active Covid-19 case count currently is 39,371.

So far, a total of 8,207,001 people has received coronavirus vaccine across the country, of which 4,716,936 have received the first dose while only 3,490,065 individuals have been inoculated with both the doses and are fully vaccinated.

In the same time frame, 677 infections were reported in the capital city while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 167 and 117 cases respectively.

Currently, there are 402 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Sunday, Nepal's coronavirus caseload had reached 732,272 with 1,793 more people testing positive for the infection.

Globally, over 208 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 4.3 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 186 million people have recovered while more than 17 million cases are still active.
