KATHMANDU, AUGUST 09

Nepal's coronavirus caseload reached 717,486 on Sunday with 2,609 more people testing positive for the infection in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 671,083 with 1,784 discharges logged today.

On the other hand, the countrywide Covid-19 mortality toll increased to 10,115 with 22 more fatalities.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, 16,594 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 10,445 were PCR tests while 6,149 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 3,694,179 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 1,042 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests amount to 3,651.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 93.5 %, while the fatality rate stands at 1.5%. The country's active Covid-19 case count currently is 36,288.

So far, a total of 7,131,481 people has received coronavirus vaccine across the country, of which 4,525,435 have received the first dose while only 2,606,046 individuals have been inoculated with both the doses and are fully vaccinated.

In the same time frame, 624 infections were reported in the capital city while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 165 and 170 cases respectively.

Currently, there are 441 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Sunday, Nepal's coronavirus caseload had reached 714,877 with 2,137 more people testing positive for the infection.

Globally, over 203 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 4.3 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 182 million people have recovered while more than 16 million cases are still active.
