KATHMANDU, MAY 23

Nepal on Sunday reported 7,598 new cases of coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the nationwide coronavirus infection count stands at 513,241.

Likewise, total fatalities from the highly contagious respiratory disease has climbed to 6,346 as 193 more deaths were reported from across the country.

In the same time period, 7,664 people recovered from the virus after which the active caseload adds up to 115, 547.

Antigen tests confirmed 316 positive infections in the past 24 hours indicating that a total of 7,914 cases from both RT-PCR and antigen tests were registered.

According to the health ministry, 19,926 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, of which 18,965 were PCR tests while 961 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 2,916,468 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

391,348 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection so far. The recovery rate from the disease stands at 76.3 per cent.

Currently, there are 873 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Saturday, Nepal's coronavirus case count had reached 505,643 with 8,591 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 167 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3.4 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 148 million people have recovered while more than 15 million cases are still active.
