NEPALGUNJ: A youth was murdered in Nepalgunj of Banke district in broad daylight on Monday. Police suspected that notorious gangster of the city, Rigal Dhakal, killed Chetan Manandhar (28) from Nepalgunj-8, in Dhambojhi, a busy hub of Nepalgunj, with a khukuri and a khunda. Manandhar was an ex-member of the Dhakal-led gang. He had left them after some disputes just few months ago. The incident occurred at around 3 pm today, near the Nepal Airlines Corporation office, SP Basanta Panta of the District Police Office said. The incident site is just around 100 metres away from a police post. Manandhar had sustained cut injuries on his throat and hands and was rushed to Nepalgunj Medical College. But, he died during treatment as bleeding did not stop, Panta added. Meanwhile, police arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in the crime. The suspects have been identified as Prashant Gautam, Nawaraj Khatri, Bishal Basnet, Mohan Khadka and Keshav Rokaya. Police recovered two khundas and a khukuri from them. Panta said Dhakal as well as Sohan Singh and Madhav Pariyar of his gang are absconding after the incident and police have launched a manhunt to nab them.
