More than 100 Nepali professionals, entrepreneurs and researchers from across Germany gathered in Munich for the second Nepali Roots Summit, focusing on leadership, entrepreneurship and strengthening economic and knowledge partnerships with Nepal.

The second annual Nepali Roots Summit concluded in Munich, Germany, bringing together over 100 Nepali researchers, technology executives, engineers, entrepreneurs and community leaders to discuss ways to strengthen leadership, innovation and cross-border collaboration with Nepal.
Organised by Nepali Roots e.V., a Germany-based organisation working to integrate and empower the Nepali diaspora, the summit was held under the theme "From Integration to Empowerment: Building Leadership and Entrepreneurial Capacity in the Nepali Diaspora."
Opening the event, General Secretary Jitendra Kasaudhan outlined the organisation's mission to connect capital, knowledge and opportunities between Germany and Nepal. The summit also marked the launch of the Nepali Roots Journal, a peer-reviewed, open-access publication aimed at promoting research and scholarship within the diaspora.
Nepal's Acting Ambassador to Germany, Sagar P. Phuyal, inaugurated the summit, highlighting the growing role of the Nepali diaspora in Nepal's development. Lok Mani Dahal, President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Germany, pledged continued collaboration with Nepali professionals in Germany.
Delivering the keynote address, Deepa Gautam Nigge, Vice President of Corporate Development and Investments at SAP SE, described migration as an opportunity for entrepreneurship and global leadership rather than a barrier.
Panel discussions featured technology executives and business leaders sharing insights on entrepreneurship, innovation and expanding into European markets. Speakers also discussed higher education, foreign direct investment, export opportunities, leadership development, renewable energy and the growing role of artificial intelligence in entrepreneurship.
The summit included discussions on building mentorship networks for young professionals and strengthening leadership within the Nepali diaspora. Participants also shared personal experiences of career challenges and entrepreneurial success abroad.
Closing the event, Nepali Roots President Dr Kritan Gautam thanked participants and partner organisations, announcing plans to implement the summit's recommendations and organise an expanded edition next year.
Organisers said the summit aims to strengthen collaboration between Nepal and its global diaspora by fostering innovation, investment, professional networking and knowledge exchange.
