KATHMANDU, APRIL 15

Nepal on Thursday reported 490 new cases of coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the total nationwide infection count has advanced to 282,054.

A total of 44 antigen positive cases were detected through tests carried out across the country in the past 24 hours.

Of the total cases recorded today, Kathmandu district holds the highest number of new infections with 145 cases logged in the past 24 hours. Lalitpur reported 43 cases, whereas eight new cases were reported from Bhaktapur.

Banke, with 89 new infections, has the second highest number of cases registered in 24 hours.

Likewise, 157 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry.

As of today, 274,604 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate, as such, is 97.4 per cent.

Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 4,384.

The nationwide death-toll has reached 3,066 with five Covid-related fatalities reported today.

According to the health ministry, 4,152 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, of which 3,588 were PCR tests while 564 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 2,329,547 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Currently, there are 68 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Wednesday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 281,564 with 580 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 138 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 2.9 million people have lost their lives to Covid-19.

Likewise, over 111 million people have recovered from the disease while more than 24 million cases are still active.
