CPN-M cadres held for anti-poll actions

Police today arrested six Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN-Maoist cadres for carrying out anti-election activities from Dolakha and Pokhara.

Three CPN-M cadres were arrested from a tea shop in Charikot, the district headquarters of Dolakha for threatening candidates of different parties to withdraw their candidacies.

Those arrested are Dolakha in-charge of the party Arjun Yogi, district secretary Rajan Dhanuke and secretariat member Saroj Neupane, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Rabin Karki.

Karki said that they were arrested for issuing threats to election candidates, and launching anti-election campaign on social networking sites.

He said he had received instructions from the central level not to release the arrestees until the polls were over.

Likewise, Kaski police today arrested three cadres loyal to Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN -M for their alleged involvement in anti-election activities from Sardikhola of Machhapuchchhre Rural Municipality.

Those arrested are Yuba Raj Bastola, Tej Bahadur KC and Man Bahadur Tamang.

All the detainees have been kept at Ward Police Office, Bagar.

All the arrestees are members of Sardikhola ‘people’s government’ formed by the party yesterday, said police.
