New provision for registration of industries

KATHMANDU: In order to keep up with the new federal system, district-based cottage and small industries are now required to register with the Industry Development Section.

This new provision has replaced a need for such industries to register earlier with respective district-based office of the Department of Cottage and Small Industry (DCSI) and the Office of Cottage and Small Industry Development Committee.

Earlier, a secretary level decision taken by Industry Ministry on June 28 directed the Department and Development Committee to implement the new provision. The Development Committee is operating in 48 districts while the Department in 27 at present.

"Now the Development Section is based in only respective district headquarters and it will be expanded to all 744 local levels in the days to come," said officiating executive director of the Development Committee, Surendra Kumar Thapa Magar.
