NSP (A) expels spokesperson Giri

Kathmandu, September 11:

The Nepal Sadbhawana Party (Anandidevi) leadership today expelled party spokesperson Sarita Giri from the general membership of the party.

Other leaders, including the party senior vice-president, Laxman Lal Karna, who claim to be in the majority, however, are preparing to hold the party’s special general convention in Birgunj from September 13-15.

With the expulsion of Giri, the number of senior leaders expelled from the party has reached five.

“NSP(A) party president Anandidevi Singh today expelled Giri for going against the party line,” party general secretary Shyam Sundar Gupta told this daily today.

Gupta, who took complete charge of the party office in Kathmandu yesterday,

said they would be nominating new central committee members of the party tomorrow.

Laxman Karna, who is currently in Birgunj preparing for the convention, told this daily that they would “give a damn” to what Gupta does. “We don’t believe in a one-man-show,” Karna said challenging Gupta to face the national convention if he “really wanted to take the top post” of the party.

Sarita Giri, however, said she did not want to comment on the action taken by Anandidevi. “Currently, I am busy writing the party manifesto for the constituent assembly elections,” she said.

Convention preparations on

Birgunj: Although chairperson of the Nepal Sadbhawana Party (Anandi Devi) has said it would not hold the party’s special general convention, local party cadres here are busy preparing for the same scheduled for September 13-15 and say no one can disrupt the convention.

The party’s Parsa unit claims there is no conflict here. Talking to this daily, coordinator of the special convention preparation committee and joint secretary of the party Surendra Prasad Kurmi said, “Dispute over posts is common in politics but the party cadres are convinced that the sepcial convention will settle all the issues.” The Parsa unit of NSP (A), which is the host of the special convention, is not taking any side, the district leaders said. — HNS
