Judges’ appointment
KATHMANDU: The Judicial Council led by Chief Justice Dilip Kumar Paudel on Thursday continued discussions on appointment of 51 district court judges. “The meeting could not complete necessary work so no announcement was made,” said a source at the Judicial Council. “The CJ is likely to announce the appointments on Friday.”— HNS
Italian minister’s trip
KATHMANDU: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Italy, Gianni Vernetti, is arriving here on Friday to assess the situation in Nepal. He is scheduled to meet Deputy PM and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, KP Oli, and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chitra Lekha Yadav, during his visit. KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan Higher Secondary School building at Beltari, in the Nawalparasi district, built with the Indian assistance of Rs 29.05 million, was inaugurated on Thursday in the presence of the local authorities and community leaders. The construction of library, laboratory and furniture in the school will benefit over 2,000 students. The project is part of the ongoing economic cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, health and infrastructure in 61 district with an outlay of Rs 18 billion. — HNS
