Blast at WFP office

Biratnagar: Maoists on Thursday detonated powerful bombs in four offices, including the World Food Programme (WFP) programme office, in Damak. However, no casualty was reported. The serial blasts occurred in a space of one hour beginning 11 am and damaged the office property, police said. The Damak office of Nepal Telecom (NT), the Agriculture Development Bank (ADB) and Land Revenue offices were damaged in the blasts. The first bomb went off at the NT office at around 11:10 am. After a few minutes another bomb went off at the Land Revenue Office, then at the ADB and the WFP programme office, witnesses said. — HNS

Girl killed in mishap

Tanahun: Trishala Pant, 9, of Aanbukhaireni VDC-2 was killed when she was hit by a motorcycle (Ga 3 Pa 4013) heading towards Dumre from Aanbukhaireni at Baradi of Aanbukhaireni on Wednesday evening. The two motorcyclists were also injured. Trishala, who was critically injured in the incident, died while undergoing treatment at Bharatpur hospital, Area Police Office, Aanbukhaireni said. — HNS
