KATHMANDU: Cosmic Air resumed its international operation on Thursday. The airline on Thursday flew to Varanasi and New Delhi and will continue its international operation. “We replaced the parts and now we will have a smooth international operation,” Upendra Karki, marketing director of Cosmis Air said. — HNS
Maoists free 3 cops
DHANKUTA: The Maoists on Thursday released three policemen, whom they had abducted in Dhankuta attack on February 7. Police constables Bhoj Bahadur Danuwar, Hari Dhakal and Upendra Tamang were set free at Rajarani Bazaar in the presence of human rights activists and mediapersons. The Maoists had abducted 25 persons and has already released 11 of them. — HNS
Four injured in blast
CHARIKOT: Four security personnel were injured when an ambush planted by the Maoists, targeting patrolling security forces, went off at Malukhola area, on Thursday evening. Two critically injured security personnel have been sent to Kathmandu for treatment and two others are undergoing treatment in the local health post. The Maoists exploded five ambushes while the security forces defused a pressure cooker bomb and a pipe bomb, the security source in Charikot said. — HNS
NC activist killed
JANAKPUR: An unidentified gang killed Bindeshwor Yadav, Nepali Congress activist and resident of Shantipur VDC-7, in Dhanusha district on Wednesday night. Yadav died on the spot when he was struck with an axe, District Police Office, Dhanusha, said. The armed group had first detonated two bombs at Yadav’s house at around midnight and also fired blank shots, police said. Yadav’s brother Chandeshwor and his nephew were injured in the incident. — HNS
SC notice to govt
KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court on Thursday issued show cause notices to the government and the Nepal Oil Corporation, seeking explanation on the recent hike in prices of petroleum products and the new arrangement that authorises the private sector to fix the prices. A single bench of Justice Badri Kumar Basnet was responding to a public interest litigation against the price hike that was filed in the Supreme Court on Thursday. — HNS
