One killed in road mishap:

BIRATNAGAR: One person was killed when a motorbike collided with a Landrover in

Biratnagar on Saturday night. Motorcycle driver Arbindra Agrawal died on the spot when his bike (Ko 1 Pa 8820) collided with the Landrover (Ko 1 Cha 1217) coming from the opposite direction, near Biratnagar bus park. Bikas Agrawal who was sitting on the backseat of the motorcycle was seriously injured. He is being treated in Dharan, police said. Eyewitnesses said three persons were riding on the motorbike. The third rider fled the scene after the accident and is yet to be identified. — HNS

Panel for democracy day:

KALAIYA: A 51-member committee has been constituted under the convenorship of Chief District Officer Madhav Prasad Regmi to celebrate the Tribhuwan Jayanti and the 55th National Democracy Day for three days. Worship in temples, sports, talk programme, fruit distribution, procession, mass meeting and deepawali will be organised on Falgun 6, 7 and 8. — RSS

Work resumes:

BAGLUNG: The construction work of the Baglung-Burtibang road, which was stopped three years ago, has resumed. The work was stopped citing financial irregularities in 2058 BS. The construction is now in full swing and is expected to reach Burtibang by April, the Baglung DDC said. The road will be completed at a cost of Rs. 4,100,000, said the secretary of the construction committee Deependra Thapa. — RSS

Gamblers arrested:

BHARATPUR: Police have arrested a gang involved in gambling in Chitwan district. A patrolling team from the district police office nabbed 13 persons red-handed from the house of Raj Kumar Maske at Bharatpur municipality-10, Dipendrachowk on Friday. The arrested are house owner Maske and gamblers Bhoj Raj Adhikari, Harkraj Shah, Bimal Bohara, Kumar Lama, Suraj Sherchan, Gauri Shankar Pradhan and others of Chitwan and Nabalparasi districts, according to the police. — RSS

Fund crunch hits library:

DAMAK: Tribhuvan Adarsha Library located at Khajurgachhi of Jhapa, which is one of the oldest libraries in eastern region, has fallen under shadow for want of proper budget and dissemination. The library is in forlorn condition after it was ignored by all the sides, according to chairman of the library Rajendra Prasad Sharma. Established in 2011 BS with a two-room concrete building and five bighas of land, the library had been running different programmes and activities in the past. — RSS

Eye camp held:

KATHMANDU: Nepal Red Cross Society, Nuwakot, Nuwakot Community Eye Centre, Jai Foundation Nepal, Kathmandu, and Tilganga Eye Centre, Kathmandu, jointly held a four-day eye camp at community eye centre, Nuwakot, and Prithvi lower secondary school, Bidur. Some 232 eye patients in total underwent operations at the camp, where the number of people receiving services and necessary medicines exceeded 1,100. — RSS

Two hurt in family feud:

MAHOTTARI: Two persons are reportedly injured by the bullet fired by Shyam Mahato in a row that reportedly broke out on Saturday night at Bispiti village development committee between Mahato brothers over the possession of family property. They were reportedly injuried after they intervened in the row with the view to reconciling the two brothers. The row had erupted between Shyam and his step-brother Rambabu Mahato. Arati Devi and Rajendra Rawat were seriously injured when Shyam opened fired at them. They are being treated in Janakpur, police said. — RSS
