22 hurt in accident
DHULIKHEL: Twenty-two passengers were injured when an overspeeding bus had an accident near Kavre’s Dolalghat on Thursday afternoon. Police said the reserved bus was heading to Sangachowk of Sindhupalchock from Kathmandu while it had an accident on the Araniko Highway. The injured are undergoing treatment in Dhulikhel. — HNS
LVs beat theft-accused
PHIDIM: Limbuwan Volunteers (LV) on Thursday thrashed a person on the charge of stealing a mobile set. The Federal Limbuwan State Council cadres also took Santosh Sedhain, a resident of Phidim-1, to BP community forest in Phidim-3 on the accusation and beat him there. Sedhain sustained injuries in the limbs. “Subendra Jagebu, Sanju Gurung, Nabin Budhathoki, Tham Kumar Chauhan, Rajan Gurung, Gajendra Thapa and Dhiraj Lama beat me despite plea that I was innocent,” said the victim. Sedhain has registered a complaint in District Police Office demanding action against the guilty. — HNS
‘Invincible federalism’
PANCHTHAR: Central committee member of Nepali Congress, Narahari Acharya, on Thursday said no force could now obstruct the way for federalism as his party already made the path clear for the same. Stating that the restructuring of the state should be adopted on the basis of history and geography, he stressed on the need of carrying out enough and serious homework before opting for the federalism. — HNS
Study teams return
KATHMANDU: Three teams formed to study the diarrhoea situation in the mid-western districts have returned to the capital after a week-long assessment of the area. The teams visited Surkhet, Dailekh, Jajarkot, Nepalgunj, Salyan and Achham districts. “The teams took into account the causes of diarrhoea and the foodstuffs consumed by the patients,” said Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, spokesperson, MoLD, who coordinates one of the teams. — HNS
